Last Friday at the memorial service for Professor Peter Günther, Red Baron said goodbye to a friend.

Peter was a member of the Freiburg-Madison-Gesellschaft (FMG) and the
Museumsgesellschaft. I held Peter in high regard as a kind, empathetic, and
people-oriented person.

I learned about his expertise as an Americanist back in 2009 when we visited
our sister city, Madison, with the FMG.
His lecture, “Puritan Heritage and Political Religion,” which he gave at the FMG’s regular Stammtisch in October 2010, remains just as relevant today. I was excited, so my comment followed promptly.
I will miss Peter. RIP
